Student parent success to be celebrated in September

September is the traditional month when students head back to school. It’s also a time when some of their parents return to school too.

With that in mind, September is designated National Student Parent Success Month, and UWM is planning several events to celebrate.

UWM is among the few universities nationally that has a program specifically designed for college students who are also parents. The Student Parent Success Program offers an array of support services to help those who are juggling family responsibilities with academics to reach their goals.

The program offers resources to all students who are parents. Currently, the office estimates more than 1,300 students at UWM are attending class while raising children.

The program provides students with a support team to offer advice, connections to professional and personal resources, workshops, childcare assistance and the opportunity to build connections with other student parents at all UWM campuses.
