Some quick tips on what to do in emergencies 

In an emergency, the health and safety of UWM students, faculty and staff, and campus visitors depends on being prepared and knowing what to do. Find some quick tips below or see a complete list of what to do in specific emergencies at UWM’s Emergency Preparedness webpage. 

Any campus emergency: Call UW-Milwaukee Police 


Non-emergency: 414-229-4627 

RAVE/Guardian app:  

The Rave Guardian app is a safety tool that connects students, faculty and staff directly with UWM Police resources. Download the Rave Guardian app to receive UWM Emergency Alerts and access other safety features.

If you see smoke or fire on campus:

  • Activate fire alarm
  • Evacuate the building
  • Call 414-229-9911 to notify UWM PD

Seek tornado shelter areas in lower levels of buildings or interior locations without windows.
