Ice skate at Red Arrow Park
The ice skating rink at Red Arrow Park, in the heart of downtown, is a must-do in winter. Students can rent ice skates for $8 and experience what it’s like to skate between the scrapers. Learn more.

Get out of the cold and step inside three exotic worlds. The domes at Mitchell Park Conservatory will spruce up your day with desert, tropical and floral show climates. Students can enter for $5 with their student photo ID. Learn more.
UWM basketball
Watch our Panthers play at the UWM Panther Arena in downtown Milwaukee. Students can catch shuttles from the residence halls and sit in the newly created, Panther Pit. Admission: free to cheer on our team!
Go. Sledding.
Yes, there is a place for students to go sledding in Milwaukee! Head down Lincoln Memorial Drive and you will see the huge snow hill by the North Point Water Tower ready to slide down. Bring a sled and some mittens and you’re set to go.
Movies at the Downer
Winter is the best time to catch up on movie watching. Go to the Landmark Theatre on Downer Avenue and see one of the three films that may be showing on the two screens. Films range from first-run features to art house favorites. Admission is only $7.50 for students with a valid UWM ID. What’s playing.
Milwaukee Art Museum
What’s that building with huge white wings? Milwaukee’s internationally renowned Art Museum – recently expanded to add more artwork and enhance a visitor’s experience. Admission is free for students on the first Friday of each month. Learn more.
Cross country skiing and snow shoeing
Get outside for cross country skiing or snow shoeing with the help from University Recreation’s Outdoor Pursuits. This program allows students to rent equipment up to a week at a minimal cost. And take advantage of adventurous weekend trips around the Midwest. Learn more.
