UWM’s Peck School of the Arts is on Variety magazine’s list of best film schools in the world for a third straight year.
Peck’s Film, Video, Animation & New Genres program has developed a strong reputation as a top choice for students looking for a wide-ranging film industry education, the entertainment business publication said in its recently released look at the top film schools of 2019.
Rob Yeo, chair of the Film, Video, Animation & New Genres department, cited the work of accomplished faculty and staff, along with the strength of the graduate program, the energy of the students and the growth of Milwaukee’s film scene and community, as core reasons for the latest designation.
Peck School of the Arts Dean Scott Emmons called the recognition an honor for the Film Department.
“I’ve been privileged to see the work of our faculty, staff, students and alumni in festivals and professional studios, and can tell you this honor is well earned,” Emmons said. “Our film program does a great job of preparing students for careers in Milwaukee, Hollywood or wherever their creative talents take them.”
The film program was also ranked No. 24 in The Hollywood Reporter’s 2018 list of top American film schools.
