Microsoft Teams to replace Skype for Business at UWM

Microsoft recently announced plans for the retirement of Skype for Business. University IT Services is currently evaluating a retirement plan and timeline for UWM.

Microsoft Teams is a chat and collaboration platform that is already available to faculty and staff as part of the Office 365 desktop suite. Already this year, the use of Teams across our campus has steadily eclipsed that of Skype for Business, and this transition should correlate well with Skype’s retirement.

If you have not yet installed the Teams app, here are links to instructions on how to do so:

To learn more about Teams, please visit the UWM Teams webpage.

This October, free training courses on Teams will be offered through UWM’s Learning TECHniques program. Please visit their website for more information and to register for an upcoming course.

Updates will continue to be shared regarding Teams and the Skype for Business retirement.
