Katie Miota has been named UWM’s new chief enrollment officer, a role she has filled on an interim basis since March 2018.

Miota brings with her eight years of experience in UWM’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions and two years of recruiting activities in the Peck School of the Arts.

Chancellor Mark Mone said that Miota has provided leadership during a time of transition.

“This year Katie demonstrated skillful leadership in managing the complex changes in operations and systems needed for UWM to provide recruitment, registration, financial aid and other services to students at our new Washington County and Waukesha campuses,” said Chancellor Mark Mone. “She also led efforts resulting in impressive growth in UWM’s fall 2018 enrollments of Illinois and transfer students.”

Miota’s duties as chief enrollment officer will include working alongside Mone in providing guidance in vision, policy direction and operational oversight in enrollment of students and their progress to graduation.

Miota will also oversee a number of divisions in enrollment management, including the Career Planning and Resource Center, Financial Aid, the Registrar’s Office, the Student Success Center, TRIO/Pre-College programs and Undergraduate Admissions.

Miota also will lead the Chancellor’s Enrollment Management Action Team. CEMAT will be working on rolling out a strategic enrollment management plan, which will monitor UWM’s performance in retention and graduation rates.
