July 8 is Show Your College Pride Day at Summerfest

Get free admission to Summerfest when you wear your UWM branded gear on Friday, July 8. You must arrive at the Mid Gate between noon and 3 p.m. to receive free admission.

Make sure to stop at UWM’s booth near the fountains to say hello, enter to win front-row wristbands (to see Skillet, The Black Crowes, ABC and Cordae – must be present at 2:30 p.m. to win), grab some great UWM swag and show your Panther Pride.

Additionally, watch Milwaukee Panther star basketball players reunite to raise money for charity and to prove who is still No. 1 on the court vs. Marquette and UW-Madison. Check the Summerfest schedule for timing.

The Alumni Charity Challenge competition will take place at the Gruber Law Offices Sportszone. Alumni players from each university will compete in a series of shooting competitions, in support of three charitable organizations, Garding Against Cancer (University of Wisconsin Badgers), Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee (Marquette Golden Eagles), and the MACC Fund/Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee).

Participating alumni players include the following, (more to be announced soon):

  • University of Wisconsin Badgers – Ben Brust, Brevin Pritzl, TBA
  • Marquette University Golden Eagles – Travis Diener, Steve Novak, TBA
  • University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers – Joah Tucker, Ed McCants, Clay Tucker

The Alumni Charity Challenge will consist of each team competing in three rounds of shooting competitions. The winner of each round will earn 100 team points. The team entering the competition with the highest number of donations will receive 50 points. The team entering the competition with the most money raised will also receive 50 points. The team who ends the competition with the most total points wins the Alumni Charity Challenge.

The winning team’s charity partner will receive 60% of the funds and the charities for the other two teams will each receive 20% of the total funds raised.

The Alumni Charity Challenge will be emceed by Melanie Ricks, Milwaukee Bucks in-game host and host of MKE in the Morning on 101.7 The Truth and include a performance from the Davis Club Dance Team and appearances from university mascots.
