UWM Men of Color event provides opportunity to connect

Some two dozen people gathered Thursday for the UWM Men of Color event at the men’s basketball game vs. Detroit Mercy. This event provided an opportunity for Milwaukee peers, mentors, alums and staff to connect and network in VIP section courtside at the UWM Panther Arena.

The UWM Men of Color group formed in 2021 to provide support and networking opportunities for faculty, staff and students, as well as partners in the community including the MPS Black and Latino Male Achievement Program, Mentor Milwaukee and the African American Alliance of Milwaukee, as well as alumni.

Attendees at Thursday’s event were treated to an evening of fellowship as well as a 94-89 Panther victory.

Collaborating to make the event happen were UWM’s multicultural centers, the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and men’s basketball coach Bart Lundy.
