Community leaders honor Mone’s transformative legacy

Community, business and education leaders from across the region gathered June 30 to honor Mark Mone, the ninth chancellor of UW-Milwaukee, for his 11 years of visionary leadership and service.

The event, held at the UWM Lubar Entrepreneurship Center and UWM Welcome Center, recognized his profound impact on UWM’s students, research enterprise and community partnerships, which have solidified the university’s role as a cornerstone of the region and the state.

Mone is stepping down as chancellor this summer and returning to teach in the Lubar College of Business. Thomas Gibson, currently chancellor of UW-Stevens Point, will take over as UWM chancellor.
