Eight-week exercise and wellness program for cancer survivors

The UWM College of Health Sciences’ Doctor of Physical Therapy students are facilitating an eight-week exercise and wellness program for cancer survivors – in or out of active treatment – who are suffering from the adverse effects of cancer treatment.

Studies have found that cancer survivors who engage in moderate physical activity have improved physical and social functioning.

Classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 6 through May 8, between 1:30 and 3 p.m. at the Wisconsin Athletic Club, 7601 N. Port Washington Rd., Fox Point. Classes will not be held on March 19 and 23 because of UWM’s spring break.

Because the students gain professional experience from working with cancer survivors, there isn’t a fee for the class. However, there is a $10 weekly fee to belong to the Wisconsin Athletic Club during the program.
