Jennifer Doering, UWM associate professor in the College of Nursing, is taking the prototype of a product she developed to market through a startup called Sleep Environment Innovations.

The Abri 360 – formerly known as “Sleep Guardian 360” – provides shelter for a baby when sleeping in close proximity to parents. Recently, an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign was launched to take the product to market and keep the retail cost under $149.
Abri is a French word for “shelter” and the product offers 360 degrees of protection. The baby pod monitors the environment around the baby, which keeps the place and space for the baby free of common hazards. Other features include tip-over protection, visual and audible alarms and a firm surface.
Once the goal of $100,000 has been raised, plans call for the Abri 360 to be available through Amazon and eventually in retail stores.
The slogan for Doering’s product and the Indiegogo campaign is “Let’s revolutionize baby sleep safety.”
