Counseling available for UWM students

Struggling with interpersonal relationships or mental health? UWM’s Norris Health Center and the UWM Psychology Clinic are welcoming students to seek services for a variety of matters.

For general counseling, UWM students are eligible to receive approximately 10 free sessions with the Norris Counseling Center. The first appointment will be an initial 30-minute consultation to identify concerns and to match with a counselor. Students may be referred to the UWM Psychology Clinic if they have utilized their free sessions or are in need of longer-term counseling.

The UWM Psychology Clinic offers a variety of low-cost services for those struggling with mental health and relationship issues. Students may be referred to a specific clinic, such as the Traumatic Stress and Anxiety Disorder Clinic, Eating Disorders Clinic or the Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy Clinic. Tele-psychotherapy sessions are conducted by graduate students in the Clinical Psychology PhD Program under the supervision of clinical psychology faculty.

Session fees are determined on a sliding-scale basis and range from $10 to $50 depending on client income, student status and need.
