Ron Krizek, a UWM Foundation Board of Trustees member, and his wife have created scholarships to help UWM students in the accounting and finance fields.

At the Arizona gathering, Mone discussed the importance of moving UWM forward with strategic opportunities that will:  bolster UWM’s strength as an urban research university; build on its partnerships and community engagement; dramatically expand the use of technology; enhance the campus learning and working environment; ensure investment in programs for student success and enrollment; and, manage long-term budget cuts.

Mone noted that the demand for freshwater has led to a close global collaboration between industry, scientists and researchers at UWM. “UWM’s best days are ahead,” he concluded.

Several UWM leaders joined Mone at the meeting. V. Kanti Prasad, dean of the Lubar Business School, shared updates on entrepreneurial activities at UWM.  Patricia Borger, vice chancellor for Development and Alumni Relations, reported that 5,000 of UWM’s 177,000 alumni live in Arizona. Adrienne Bass, UWM’s associate vice chancellor for Alumni Relations, has facilitated annual Arizona alumni gatherings for several years.

The meeting was a day after 125 Arizona residents and visitors participated in a UWM Alumni Association’s pre-game tailgate and cheered on the Milwaukee Brewers as they took on the San Diego Padres in a pre-season game at Maryvale Baseball Park.
