UWM will kick off the fall semester with a focus on safety during the UWM Police Department’s annual Campus Safety Day on Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Spaights Plaza. All students, faculty and staff are invited to learn more about UWM’s safety resources, sign up for training and get a chance to meet K9 Ezmae.
The day is part of several safety-related sessions during Welcome Week. Here’s the full schedule of activities, including a special bowling event on Sept. 10:

Training sessions
The UWM PD offers free Civilian Response to Active Shooter (C.R.A.S.E.) Training and Self-Defense classes throughout the year. The training is open to students, faculty and staff.

The Police Department also offers the American Heart Association BLS Certification Course. The Basic Life Support (BLS) training reinforces early CPR and defibrillation, performing CPR, choking relief and how to use an AED. The course certification is $65. Sign up at the UWM Police webpage.
