Applications for McNair Scholars Program due by Nov. 30

The UWM Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program is accepting applications through Nov. 30.

The McNair Scholars Program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education and housed in UWM’s Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, is designed to increase the number of first-generation, low-income and underrepresented minority students who enter graduate studies leading to a doctorate. It offers a $2,800 stipend to fund a summer research internship, support with graduate school applications and travel to conferences and graduate school visits.

UWM is accepting applications for its 2022-2023 cohort from enrolled junior and senior students (graduating on or after December 2023) who are pursuing their first bachelor’s degree and also plan to pursue a PhD. Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and considered first-generation and low-income or an underrepresented minority.

The application requires an eligibility form, transcripts and a recommendation letter. All application materials are due by Nov. 30.
