Administrative Transformation Program update from UW System

UW System has asked UWM to share the information below with employees about a UW System-led project to replace our HR and Finance enterprise system (PeopleSoft) and create administrative transformation along the way. The project is beginning at UW-Madison and UW System and will be extended to UWM in later phases. More information is available on the project website.

Here is UW System’s latest update:

The Administrative Transformation Program (ATP) is moving forward with all deliberate speed, and we have many exciting things to share with you.

“People first” is the driving force behind every ATP decision. In keeping with that mantra, we aim to keep you involved every step of the way, from conducting listening sessions to sharing our progress.

Today, we are bringing you an update on what’s happening now, what’s next, and a refresher of ATP’s mission.

What Is ATP?

The Administrative Transformation Program (ATP) seeks to return time to the UW’s mission by reducing administrative complexity and building an administration that supports and is resilient in facing the increasing pace of change. We are starting by streamlining administrative processes and implementing a single cloud-based Human Resources System (HRS) and Shared Financial System (SFS)—also known as enterprise resource planning (ERP) software—across the entire UW System. In doing this, we are improving the quality and availability of data and financial controls, as well as enhancing information security. Ultimately, ATP’s goal is to better the working experience at the University of Wisconsin.

Where Are We?

ATP is currently in the preplanning phase, which goes through May 2020. During preplanning, we are building teams, meeting with stakeholders, and establishing governance structures. This work ensures a strong foundation for the subsequent planning phase, which is expected to begin in mid-2020. (For more updates, follow our progress here.)

What’s Next?

The technological component of ATP involves the implementation of an ERP software system. We have identified two top vendors, who will be conducting demonstrations in Madison on January 14–17 and January 21–24.Key stakeholders from each UW institution will be invited to attend in person, with a remote participation option available for interested faculty and staff. Stay tuned for more information.

Get Involved!

Your participation and feedback are instrumental to the success of ATP. We encourage you to get involved and sign up to stay informed about our progress and learn about future engagement opportunities.

We are enthusiastic about ATP’s progress—and we’re even more optimistic about the program’s future endeavors. As we forge ahead, we look forward to sharing those updates with you.

Thank you for your commitment to the University of Wisconsin and your continuing support of our ongoing efforts to improve.
