Just weeks before students were set to put on their year-end production, fire ripped through UWM’s Peck School of the Arts’ scene shop at the Mainstage Theatre on April 8. Weeks of work went up in smoke.
But students, staff and faculty got to work, buoyed by an outpouring of support from the arts community in Milwaukee and beyond. Shorewood High School offered its scene shop. The Milwaukee Repertory Theater offered its Stiemke Studio.
And on May 3, UWM students took the Rep stage to open “Arcadia” as scheduled, proving once and for all that the show must go on.
