Holy Panthers, Batman! It’s UW-Milwaukee Day at the Wisconsin State Fair on Aug. 6. This year’s superhero theme honors UWM’s everyday heroes, who research, study and improve lives. Have a SUPER day at the fair with these activities, games and giveaways.
Superhero scavenger hunt
Participate in a superhero-themed scavenger hunt for both children and adults. The first 1,000 to finish will receive their choice of a cape or bandana.
Graduation photo op
Pose for a photo in UWM graduation regalia — cap, gown and diploma. Take home a photo and some super goals for the future.
Tech demonstrations
The School of Information Studies booth has almost as many gadgets as Batman. Watch 3-D printing, doodle pens and pancake bot demonstrations.
Live music on the Central Park Stage
The Anytime Leslies perform from 10 a.m. to noon. This folk-pop group is comprised of UWM students and alumni, so it’s sure to be a Hulk smash!
UWM trivia wheel
Channel the Riddler’s wit and solve some UWM trivia for a chance to win prizes at the UWM Alumni Association booth.
Roar Like a Panther contest
Hold on to your hats, because the kids are bound to bring their biggest voices to the Roar Like a Panther contest. Registration opens at 12:30 p.m., and the contest begins at 1 p.m.
Underwater robotics demonstration
Learn how the School of Freshwater Sciences is using the latest technologies to monitor and improve water quality, and watch UWM’s underwater robot in action.
Pop-a-Shot game
Shoot some hoops with Pounce, and meet Milwaukee Panther superheroes: the student athletes and their coaches. Don’t forget to enter the raffle for season tickets to Milwaukee Panther games.
Bucket toss game
Head over to the Manfred Olson Planetarium booth to use super skill to successfully launch the “spaceship” into the “exoplanet system,” and win tickets to a planetarium show.
Cooking techniques demonstration
Join UWM Restaurant Operations at the Central Park Stage to learn cooking techniques and recipes for Superhero Chicken and super juice. Demonstrations from 2:15 to 4 p.m.
