Rare materials include books, periodicals, atlases, maps, and photographs. Please remember that these items are unique and fragile; many are subject to abrasion. This is one of the few collections of its kind and its continued existence depends on the care it is given. Please read and acknowledge the following rules:
1. Patrons must store all of their belongings in the lockers provided.
2. Only cameras, laptops, portable scanners, pencils, and loose-leaf paper are allowed in the RMVR.
3. Please handle all materials carefully.
4. Keep items flat on the table surface.
5. Maintain an orderly arrangement of the materials.
6. Use only pencils and paper.
7. Keep note pads on the table surface. Do not trace maps or any other materials from the RMVR.
8. No food or drink.
9. Patrons will be asked to provide a valid photo ID before using rare materials. Copies of the request forms will be kept on file.
10. In the interest of preservation, the AGSL reserves the right to restrict use of items which are fragile or extremely valuable.
11. Rare materials must be returned by the patron to a staff member by 4:15pm to allow time for staff to examine and return items.
