Exploring Global Cultural and Language Experiences of Deaf and Hearing Individuals

On March 5, 2024, UWM’s Insitute of World Affairs, in partnership with the Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, hosted a rich, interactive dialogue about the lived experiences of racially and ethnically diverse community members at Milwaukee’s Mitchell Street Library. The discussion explored the intersection between culture and language with a particular focus on exploring similarities and differences between the experiences of diverse Deaf individuals and hearing individuals who have emigrated to the US.

The discussion was moderated by Sunny Brysch and included guest speakers Quacia Brown Strothers, Maryam Durani, Marilyn, Jones, and Fatun Mohamed.
