Through the generous support of alumni, faculty and friends, the School of Information Studies offers funding support awarded for both academic achievement and financial need to eligible students entering or enrolled in our academic programs.
Panther Scholarship Portal
The Panther Scholarship Portal (uwm.academicworks.com/) is your resource for all UWM scholarships. It provides information about deadlines, eligibility criteria, award amounts, donors and more. The scholarship portal will allow you to complete an application for SOIS-specific scholarships as well as an application for campus-wide funding opportunities. Diversity in Tech Education Scholarships
The Anu and Satya Nadella Diversity in Tech Education Scholarship is for incoming freshmen pursuing computer science, data science or information technology majors.
SOIS Career Discovery Scholarship
For new freshmen majoring in Information Science & Technology. Students who complete 6 IST Career Discovery Modules in the SOIS IST Career Discovery course and are admitted into the UWM Bachelor of Science in Information Science & Technology program will be eligible to earn a $1,000 scholarship toward their first semester at UWM’s main campus.
Current Student Financial Assistance
The UWM Dean of Students Office and the School of Information Studies offer financial assistance for current students who experience an unexpected financial crisis or unforeseen emergency.
- UWM Emergency Grant
This grant award offered by UWM’s Dean of Students Office is designed to help cover expenses related to unforeseen emergencies for students with financial need. - SOIS Tuition Assistance Scholarship
SOIS Tuition Assistance Scholarships are available to students who experience an unexpected financial crisis that prevents them from paying a past-due balance and registering for upcoming semester classes during their priority enrollment period. These scholarships are based on the availability of funding and demonstrated financial need.

- Kate Kaiser Scholarships
The Wisconsin chapter of the Society of Information Management (SIM) offers multiple $1,000 scholarships to deserving local students in the information technology and computing fields in honor of Kate Kaiser, founding member of the Wisconsin Chapter of SIM. - SMART Scholarship Program
