For admissions consideration to UWM’s data curation graduate certificate, you must:

  • Hold a bachelor’s or post-baccalaureate degree (or cumulative credits after admission to a dual bachelor’s-master’s program) with a minimum 2.75 GPA.
  • Complete the graduate online application and submit all Graduate School application materials.
  • Submit a one- or two-page statement outlining your background and educational and professional goals.

Admission preference is given to students who have a baccalaureate degree in information sciences, computer information systems, computer science, engineering, statistics or a related field. Students with sufficient background gained through work experience or professional training in information technologies, such as networks, web services and database development, are also considered for admission to the program.

Those who have neither of the aforementioned qualifications are encouraged to take prerequisites or their equivalents before taking related courses.

In UWM’s data curation certificate, you’ll engage with a 15-credit curriculum that blends core data science principles with specialized curation techniques — all while developing skills in managing, organizing and preserving important data.
