In order to be considered for the artificial intelligence for information science and technology undergraduate certificate program, you must meet UWM’s general admission requirements.

What makes the undergraduate certificate in artificial intelligence for information science and technology unique is its information science focus. Unlike other AI programs that emphasize only computing or business, this certificate prepares you to think critically about how AI systems handle information—how it’s collected, structured, retrieved, analyzed, and ethically applied in diverse environments.

The 21-credit online undergraduate certificate can be completed as part of the Bachelor of Science in Information Science & Technology (IST) degree or as a standalone post-baccalaureate certificate.

The online artificial intelligence for information science and technology certificate at UWM consists of three required courses and a selection of electives. The required courses provide a solid foundation in artificial intelligence principles that you can supplement with your choice of classes in the following areas: Programming/Development, Human Computer Interaction, Data Science/Visualization, and Information Ethics/Policy.
