Neighborhood Relations

Neighborhood Relations, through External Relations, assist neighbors who have questions or concerns about activity in the neighborhood, ranging from student behavior to construction challenges to general inquiries about the university. Neighborhood Relations also share information about UWM events and other areas of interest through the various neighborhood associations on the east side. UWM also sends representatives to area neighborhood meetings and other special events to answer questions and provide the latest information about projects and initiatives on campus.

Neighborhood Associations

The purpose of Neighborhood Associations is to bring community members together and keep residents informed about various events, issues, and other topics pertinent to the neighborhood. It is important to be engaged with your association as it is the main source for information that can directly impact you and your neighbors. Explore the various neighborhood associations!

Historic Water Tower
Located east of the UWM campus along the shores of Lake Michigan, the Historic Water Tower association is home to a community rich in history, with buildings and homes that have preserved the story of Milwaukee’s beginnings.

Monthly on the 1st Wednesday

Cambridge Woods
Stretching from Locust St. to Edgewood Ave. along the Milwaukee River, the Cambridge Woods neighborhood is just west of campus and is home to a diverse neighborhood composed of long term residents, young professionals, and university students.

Greenwich Village
A diverse neighborhood south of campus, Greenwich Village is buzzing with activity given its close proximity to North Ave. and its bountiful quantity of businesses.
Riverwest
The Riverwest neighborhood association is one of the largest in the area and is located just west of the Milwaukee River and UWM. This area is home to a diverse community that continues to grow.

Gordon Park Pavilion
Murray Hill
Bounded by Oakland, Downer, Bradford, and Hartford Avenues, this vibrant neighborhood association is just south of the UWM campus and has residents from diverse backgrounds, architecturally distinctive homes, and a wide variety of businesses.

Municipal Issues

We work with the Milwaukee Police Department, the Department of Neighborhood Services, Department of Public Works, and local neighborhood associations on important issues in the neighborhoods.
