History Major Receives Soldier’s Medal

Sgt. Michael Black (History major), a combat medic in the Wisconsin National Guard, was given the Soldier’s Medal in early December 2014. The Soldier’s Medal is an honor approved by the president of the United States which recognizes soldiers for heroism off of the battlefield. In 2013, Black was in Arizona for a training mission when he drove by a car crash and saved the life of a victim by applying a tourniquet to prevent her from dying of blood loss. Read more…
