Will Matuska

Will Matuska is a Water Policy and Science Communications Fellow at the Center for Water Policy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Saint John’s University and is pursuing his Master of Science in Water Policy at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences.

Before joining the Center for Water Policy, Will reported for Boulder Weekly in Colorado, covering a variety of subjects including water, climate, conservation, adventure and local government. His reporting earned three Top of the Rockies awards from the Society of Professional Journalists. He has also worked with Minnesota Public Radio, Sierra Magazine, and Gear Junkie.

Will has worked in a variety of nonprofit, policy and international spaces including the Community Resource Center in Denver in the AmeriCorps program, the Great Plains Institute, and Vermont Law School in roles like policy research and communication. Prior to moving to Milwaukee, he taught English at a high school in Nicaragua with Opportunity International.

At the Center for Water Policy, Will focuses on communication strategies and projects that bridge science, policy, and public understanding around water challenges.

In his free time, he enjoys canoeing in Minnesota’s Boundary Waters, practicing photography, playing cribbage and exploring the outdoors.
