Businesses partner with UWM’s College of Engineering & Applied Science to access advanced labs, expert researchers, and reliable testing facilities at a fraction of the cost of maintaining their own facilities. These collaborations deliver trusted results, drive innovation, and help companies improve products, processes, and performance.
Advanced Analysis Facility (AAF)

The Advanced Analysis Facility offers equipment for materials and chemical analysis; surface and elemental analysis, including X-ray diffraction;failure analysis; coatings and thin films; and thermal and corrosion testing. Contact Associate Professor Ben Church, church@uwm.edu.
Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Testing Facility
The Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) testing facility: Located in the Century City Tower, 4201 N. 27th St., the facility offers a semi-anechoic chamber that measures noise that travels through the air or through the wires of the device under test. Contact Professor Rob Cuzner, cuzner@uwm.edu.
Full-Service Machine Shop
The Machine Shop provides the equipment and know-how to create custom components. Services include milling, welding and metal-cutting in addition to CNC machining. Contact Michael Brown, mikbrown@uwm.edu.
Industrial Training and Assessment Center
The Industrial Training and Assessment Center is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, helping small and medium-sized manufacturers and wastewater treatment plants minimize their energy costs through efficient use of resources. One of 37 ITACs in the U.S. and the only one in Wisconsin, UWM’s team has provided $19.2 million in recommended cost savings since 2012. Contact Professor Ryo Amano, amano@uwm.edu.
Structural Engineering Lab
The Structural Engineering Lab provides strength, fatigue, and durability testing, including at high temperatures. The lab is equipped to handle large-scale projects such as testing full-scale bridge girders and building columns. Contact Professor Habib Tabatabai, ht@uwm.edu.
