The Milwaukee Business Journal recently published a story on NovaScan, a Chicago-based company founded by William Gregory, a professor emerit and dean of the UWM College of Engineering & Applied Science in the early 2000s.
NovaScan Inc. has raised more than $3 million ahead of launching its MarginScan cancer detection device next year. The product could make finding any residue breast cancer cells after surgery immediate.
Gregory has been researching the electrical properties of materials for more than 35 years and has been involved in other start-up companies. In 2022, he and NovaScan CEO Craig Davis were recognized by WiSys as Innovators of the Year. WiSys handled UWM intellectual property at UWM before the establishment of the UWM Research Foundation. It holds several patents around scientific discoveries made by Gregory that form the basis for NovaScan’s technologies.
