Milwaukee Journal Sentinel features college’s concrete research collaborative

Konstantin Sobolev, professor, civil & environmental engineering, discussed the collaborative research undertaken by the Concrete Advancement Network (CAN) in a recent article.

Sobolev leads CAN, a consortium that includes UWM and Oregon State University as the academic partners, and is one of three industry-university collaborative research centers (I-UCRCs) established with funding from the National Science Foundation in the college.

CAN members aim to develop stronger, more durable, and more sustainable concrete and choose projects based on industry priorities.

The newspaper has featured a story on all three of the college’s I-UCRCs this year. The results of the collaborate research are available for development by all consortium members. There are more than 80 I-UCRCs in the U.S.
