Common Core High School Math Leadership (CCHSML)
The Common Core High School Mathematics Leadership: Transforming Teachers’ Content Knowledge and Leadership Skills for a New Era (CCHSML) is a collaborative effort of the UWM Department of Mathematical Sciences, Department of Teaching and Learning, and the Center for Mathematics and Science Education Research in supporting various school districts in southeastern Wisconsin.
Core Math Partnership
The Core Math Partnership deepens teachers’ mathematical knowledge for teaching through study of mathematics learning progressions and high-leverage instructional practices in order to further student achievement and success in mathematics.
Lead partners include the School District of Cudahy, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Center for Mathematics and Science Education Research (CMSER) and the Departments of Mathematical Sciences and Teaching & Learning.
Pathways Teacher Leadership in Mathematics
The Pathways to Teacher Leadership in Mathematics project is a three-year graduate program in mathematics education. Participants in the project deepen their mathematical knowledge of major clusters within the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics while building teacher leadership capacity in supporting excellence in mathematics teaching and learning.
Strong Start Math
The Strong Start Math Project is a three-year collaboration of the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In this project, MPS teachers of K5-Grade 3 participate as school-based teams with the goal of strengthening their mathematical content knowledge and pedagogical strategies. Building this cadre of teachers will ensure students in Kindergarten through Grade 3 begin their mathematics journey with a strong and robust mathematical foundation on a trajectory of success as learners of mathematics.
