Research

We have outstanding faculty members who are active researchers and teachers. In the last decade, our faculty have published well over 300 articles, chapters and books on a wide variety of economic topics. This research appears in top general journals such as the American Economic Review, Econometrica, Canadian Journal of Economics, European Economic Review, and Review of Economics and Statistics, and as well as top field journals such as the Journal of Econometrics, the Journal of Labor Economics, the Journal of Development Economics, the Journal of Human Resources, the Journal of International Economics, the Journal of Health Economics and the Journal of Public Economics.

A recent article in the Southern Economic Journal ranked our research productivity particularly highly in the fields of labor economics (35th in the nation), industrial organization (47th), economic development (51st), urban economics (51st) and international economics (53rd). This research expertise makes UWM an exciting and vital place in which to study economics.
