Magda Kandil, our past colleague and department chair, passed away in June 2020. She joined us in 1992 from Southern Illinois University where she was an Assistant Professor. She left us to 1999 as full Professor to become a senior economist for the IMF. In the last six years she was the Chief Economist and Director of Research at the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates.
Magda maintained extensive research relationships with UWM graduate students and faculty for many years after she left. She will be missed by her many friends and colleagues in the department.
