Niho Research Excellence Fund

Academic year 2015-16 was another great year for support from the Yoshio Niho Research Excellence Fund!  The details of the three awards are below and we encourage you to contribute to help the fund grow!

“The Niho Fund allowed me to attend the fall 2015 Conference of the Southern Economic Association, where I participated in a session on inter-generational transmission. It was extremely helpful to present my paper to fellow researchers doing closely related work. I received detailed feedback from the participants as well as from the audience. I am grateful that the Fund provided this opportunity.” – Sarah Kroeger

“I participated in the European Economic Association meetings in August 2016.  Critically, I was accepted to be part of the Women in Economics mentoring retreat.  The discussions covered publishing, writing successful grant applications, networking and career planning.  The retreat also included small group sessions on my research with detailed comments and feed-back from senior mentors in my field. A great opportunity.” – Itziar Lazkano

“The Fund allowed me to give papers at two conferences here in the Midwest.  It was great for sharing my research and having discussions with those in my area. The opportunity to help raise the flag for UWM Economics was great  It is only by doing so that the rest of discipline realizes the high quality of our research – many thanks.”   — Owen Thompson
