Presented by UWM’s College of Letters and Science

The Center for 21st Century Studies was greatly saddened to learn that UWM Vilas Professor Emeritus Ihab Hassan (English and Comparative Literature) passed away on September 10, 2015.

For Dr. Hassan’s 90th birthday, the College of Letters and Science had been planning a symposium on the humanities, and for which Dr. Hassan would be delivering the introductory talk, “Glancing at My Shadow: A Late Critique.” At Sally Hassan’s request, the event will continue largely as planned before Dr. Hassan’s passing: the emphasis will be on discussing humanities scholarship rather than memorializing.
