Dr. Neely is actively researching the role of financial information in governmental and nonprofit organizations.

Professional Activities

Dr. Neely is a member of the American Accounting Association (AAA), the Government and Nonprofit Section of the AAA, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Dr. Neely currently serves on several nonprofit boards and committees, and has refereed for numerous academic journals and conferences. He has published in the Journal of Accounting and Public PolicyAccounting HorizonsNonprofit and Voluntary Sector QuarterlyNonprofit Management and Leadership, and Issues in Accounting Education.

Dr. Neely received the 2008 Outstanding Dissertation Award from the American Accounting Association’s Government and Nonprofit Section, as well as the Outstanding Research Paper Award from the American Accounting Association's Government and Nonprofit Section.
