Areas of Expertise

Dr. Goranova conducts research on shareholder empowerment and activism, executive pay and board of directors, and the implications of corporate governance for strategic outcomes such as mergers and acquisitions, corporate diversification, and divestitures. She teaches courses in strategic management, corporate governance, and organization theory at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level.

Professional Activities

Publications. Dr. Goranova's research has been published in Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of Management, Academy of Management PerspectivesJournal of Business Ethics, Academy of Management Proceedings, and others. She is also co-editor of Shareholder Empowerment: A New Era in Corporate Governance, Palgrave-Macmillan, 2015.

Editorial Services. Dr. Goranova serves as associate editor for corporate governance for Business & Society, and on the editorial board of Journal of Management. She is a member of the Strategic Management Society, the Academy of Management, and the International Association for Business and Society.

Awards and Honors. Dr. Goranova is recipient of Izzet Sahin Research AwardAcademy of Management Distinguished Paper Award, and Syracuse University Doctoral Prize. She also received Outstanding Reviewer Awards from the Academy of Management and Strategic Management Society.
