Areas of Expertise

Dr. Goranova conducts research on shareholder empowerment and activism, executive pay and board of directors, and the implications of corporate governance for strategic outcomes such as mergers and acquisitions, corporate diversification, and divestitures. She teaches courses in strategic management, corporate governance, and organization theory at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level.

Professional Activities

Publications. Dr. Goranova conducts research on corporate governance, shareholder activism and ownership, and governance implications for strategic management issues, such as mergers and acquisitions, corporate diversification, and others. Her work has been published in Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Organization Science, Journal of Management Studies, Academy of Management Perspectives, Journal of Business Ethics, and others.

Editorial Services. Dr. Goranova serves as editor for Corporate Governance: An International Review and on the editorial board of Journal of Management. She previously served as an associate editor for corporate governance for Business & Society. She is also co-editor of Shareholder Empowerment: A New Era in Corporate Governance, Palgrave-Macmillan, and CGIR special issue Ownership and Corporate Governance across Institutional Contexts.

Awards and Honors. Dr. Goranova is recipient of Izzet Sahin Research Award, Roger L. Fitzsimonds Distinguished Scholar Award, Academy of Management Distinguished Paper Award, and Syracuse University Doctoral Prize. She also received Outstanding Reviewer Awards from the Academy of Management and Strategic Management Society.
