Areas of Expertise

Dr. Mukhopadhyay’s primary areas of expertise is in operations management in the areas of quality management, new product development, manufacturing-marketing interface, and technology management. Later, he specialized in supply chain management primarily in areas of supply chain contracts, reverse logistics, and enterprise resource planning. Prior to moving to academia, he had extensive industry experience working as an engineer and manager in India and Saudi Arabia.

Professional Activities

Dr. Mukhopadhyay’s extensive academic experience is mainly in University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Lubar College of Business where he retired as a professor and is now an Emeritus Professor. He also taught in South Korea for several years where he served as an Associate Dean. He was also a visiting faculty for various lengths of time in MIT, Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai.
He has published nearly 60 scholarly articles in top journals in his field and presented his research papers in many countries. He has received several research and teaching awards. He was placed 60th in a global ranking of top POM researchers. He served as a senior editor of Production and Operations Management and was a Member of the Editorial Review Boards of International Journal of Business Analytics and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management.
