Areas of Expertise
Dr. Du is a consumer psychologist researching consumer identity, self-expression, branding, and authenticity in the marketplace, with an eye towards findings that can benefit consumers and/or society. She leverages her expertise in experimental methods to investigate the causal relationships underlying these topics. Dr. Du teaches Consumer Behavior to undergraduate students, where she has garnered multiple awards for her pedagogical approach, including the University’s Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Award, and high student evaluation marks. She also advises the college’s student chapter of the American Marketing Association, winning the Hugh G. Wales Faculty Advisor of the Year from the international organization.
Professional Activities
Dr. Du's research has been published in top-tier academic journals, including the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Psychology, and Journal of Experimental Psychology: General. A variety of popular press outlets have featured her work, including the Harvard Business Review, National Public Radio, Fortune, and Forbes. She has presented her work and lead symposia at the Association for Consumer Research Conference, Society for Consumer Psychology Conference, Society for Personality and Social Psychology Conference, and American Marketing Association Conference, among others. She reviews for respected journals such as the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research, and Journal of Marketing Research.
