Letting etymology lead, this program brings together works of animation as a kind of animating spirit: films that expand beyond the frame and films that sense and are sense. The Union Art Gallery presents the 51st Annual Juried Exhibition, a showcase of artwork in a variety of mediums by college student artists from around the Greater Milwaukee area. Juried by a panel of three Milwaukee arts professionals, the top exhibiting artists will be announced and awarded cash prizes during the opening reception. The Wisconsin Saxophone Clinic (WiSC) aims to empower and inspire saxophonists of all ages to pursue musical excellence through an accessible and inclusive day of learning.
This concert features two outstanding ensembles. The resident UW-Milwaukee Youth Wind and Percussion Ensemble (UWAY) and the UWAY “All-Star” Band, an ensemble made up of the most select members of our recent UWM Middle School Honors Band Festival.
How can we mend the wounded world if we are open wounds ourselves? Team-curated by MFA candidates and recent grads Sarah Ballard, Magdalena Bermudez, Luciana Decker, Sam Drake, and Liyan Zhao this program will feature a selection of films featured at the 2023 Flaherty Seminar.
A contemporary New York-based artist, Roth has exhibited paintings and drawings at key galleries and museums, such as Kate Werble Gallery. Her work has been featured in articles for HYPEBEAST and WHITEWALL, as well as the Selected Gallery Guide NYC published by Two Coats of Paint.
The UWM Percussion Area hosts World Percussion Night in the beautiful Jan Serr Studio, featuring special guest Ko-Thi Dance Company alongside the UWM Steel PANthers Steel Band and other student ensembles. Audiences will love the upbeat, exciting energy of African drumming and Brazilian Samba in addition to traditional and arranged music for ensembles consisting of Guatemalan marimba doble and Trinidadian steel pans performed by UWM students and faculty and vibrant community ensembles.
