Artists Nathaniel Stern, a UWM Professor of Art and Engineering, and Sasha Stiles, who has a concurrent solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, independently developed this groundbreaking exhibition illuminating the intertwined evolution of humanity and technology, inviting viewers to reconsider the relationship between humans and the tools we invent.
Curated by MFA candidates from the Department of Film, Video, Animation and New Genres, these programs feature a unique opportunity to see some of the incredible 16mm prints from the UWM Cinema Arts Archive. For each program, the curator is invited to program a selection of films around a theme of their choosing.
Camila Rosa (b. 1988) is a Brooklyn-based Brazilian illustrator and artist known for vibrant art exploring feminism, social justice, and Latin women’s representation. Using bright colors and strong narratives, she challenges stereotypes and promotes inclusivity and equality.
Detroit-based ensemble Hub New Music has been called "a prime mover of piping hot 21st century repertoire" by The Washington Post. In its second performance at UWM, Hub shares commissioned works for its distinct ensemble of flute, clarinet, violin, and cello.
The UW-Milwaukee Voice Area and Opera Theatre is proud to present RENT by Jonathan Larson preceded by a special performance of scenes from La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini. Experience Larson's groundbreaking musical that reshaped the landscape of American music theater. Set in New York’s East Village during the 1990s arts and activist movement, RENT follows a community of young artists navigating love, loss, creativity, and the realities of illness and economic hardship. Its blend of rock, pop, and lyrical storytelling continues to connect deeply with audiences.
The UWM Wind Ensemble presents an exciting concert showcasing guest artists, international collaborators, and high school musicians from near and far. The program features Hub New Music performing Gala Flagello’s new work Bird-While, as well as Italian music students and conductors from cultural exchange programs as part of the International Music Project. We’re also thrilled to welcome select high school band students as they sit in with the Wind Ensemble for a side-by-side performance experience with UW–Milwaukee graduate and undergraduate music students.
A celebration of excellence and talent from Theatre, Dance, and Music students for Black History Month! Songs of Jubilation consists of vocal and dance performances to songs by your favorite Black artists and composers.
The UWM String Academy presents a faculty chamber music recital featuring works by Brahms and Mozart, along with performances by students from the String Academy Violin Virtuosi and the Milwaukee Cello Institute I Cellisti.

J Taran Diamond is a Baltimore-based metalsmith and educator. She has completed residencies at Arrowmont and Baltimore Jewelry Center, where she’s a Teaching Fellow. Outside of the studio, Diamond is an advocate for Black people in the fields of craft and academia and works to help achieve equity and accessibility within those fields.
This workshop explores documentary filmmaking as a tool for community advocacy and social impact. Attendees will examine how nonfiction stories can amplify marginalized voices, engage local communities, and move audiences toward awareness and action. Through case studies and practical discussion, the workshop addresses ethical storytelling, relationship-building with participants, and strategies for designing films with impact beyond the screen—equipping emerging filmmakers to tell responsible, community-centered stories that matter.
The UWM Percussion Area hosts World Percussion Night in the beautiful Jan Serr Studio, featuring special guest Ho Etsu Taiko alongside the UWM Steel PANthers Steel Band and other student ensembles. Audiences will love the upbeat, exciting energy of Japanese Taiko, Brazilian Samba, and West African drumming in addition to traditional and arranged music for Trinidadian steel pans performed by UWM students and faculty with vibrant community ensembles.
The UWM Symphony Orchestra concert, conducted by Dr. Jun Kim, will feature soprano Lexi Smith and hornist Evan Goodson, winners of the 2025-26 UWM Concerto Competition, in performances of two iconic works by Richard Strauss. Smith will sing Strauss’s transcendent Four Last Songs, one of the most beloved masterpieces of the vocal-orchestral repertoire, while Goodson will perform the composer’s virtuosic Horn Concerto No. 1, a brilliant work that highlights both lyrical elegance and technical brilliance. The program also includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4, a luminous and joyful work filled with warmth, wit, and classical grace. Often described as one of Beethoven’s most radiant symphonies, it brings energy, elegance, and vitality to a program that spans late-Romantic lyricism and Classical brilliance.
The UW-Milwaukee Youth Wind and Percussion Ensembles program ("UWAY") presents a program of contemporary and traditional symphonic band and wind ensemble repertoire. We welcome members of the 2026 UWAY "All-Star" Band in this shared performance!
An evening of films, videos and conversation with the legendary filmmaker, artist, community activist and educator Ben Caldwell. Caldwell is widely known for his role in the L.A. Rebellion and for founding KAOS Network, a media arts hub dedicated to Black artistry, fellowship, and love for over four decades.
Oaxaca-based printmakers Conhg Lopez and Enrique Gijon exhibit nationally and internationally. Gijon directs Taller de Artes Plásticas Rufino Tamayo, while Lopez works from a studio at Milwaukee’s House of RAD.
