International Archaeology Day events

Celebrate International Archaeology Day on Oct. 21. Starting at 1 p.m., the Archaeological Institute of America will present “Down Home Archaeology: Digging into the Past with Local Archaeologists” on the first floor of Sabin Hall.

Learn how archaeologists excavate sites, make 3-D models of artifacts, reconstruct ancient pottery and stone tools, analyze bones and make ancient beer. The celebration is free and open to the public. There will be activities for all ages.

This event is co-sponsored by the Archaeological Institute of America, the anthropology department, the art history department and the foreign language & literature department’s classics program.
