Congratulations to Mansson McGinty, co-recipient of the prestigious Fromkin Award

Associate Professor Anna Mansson McGinty, (WGS and Geography) and UWM colleagues Kristin Sziarto (Geography) and Caroline Seymour-Jorn (French, Italian, and Comparative Literature) have received the 2015 Morris Fromkin Memorial Award for their Muslim Milwaukee Project, a collaboration with Muslim community leaders in Milwaukee.

This grant encourages and assists UWM scholars in all fields of study to conduct research on individuals, groups, movements, and ideas, in the Americas and elsewhere, which have influenced the quest for social justice and human rights in the United States. As part of the award they will deliver the Morris Fromkin Memorial Lecture in the fall of 2015, discussing the interviews and focus groups conducted for the project’s third stage: “Da’wa in Milwaukee: Social Justice Activism among Muslims in Milwaukee.” Anna Mansson McGinty and Kristin Sziarto also gave a public presentation of findings from the individual survey stage of the Muslim Milwaukee Project at Milwaukee’s Islamic Resource Center on January 28, 2015.
