Beginning in fall 2019, Xin Huang will be the first Associate Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies with a full appointment in our department and the first to be tenured in WGS! Xin teaches feminist theory, feminist research methods, and popular topics courses, such as Gender in Global Asia and Body Politics/Cross-Cultural Perspectives. Her book, The Gender Legacy of the Mao Era: Women’s Life Stories in Contemporary China, was published in 2018 (SUNY Press), with a paperback version out this month. She is on sabbatical for the 2019-2020 academic year to work on a new project examining China’s one child policy cohort from the perspective of gender roles and relationships, sexual identities, and new possibilities for both heterosexual and queer kinship relationships. Congratulations, Xin!!
