Urban Studies Fall Lecture 2019: Sara McLafferty

Dr. Sara McLafferty, Professor of Geography & Geographic Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will be our Fall Lecture speaker. The title of her talk is: Placing Health Disparities: Sociospatial Polarization and Women’s Health in a Changing City

About the speaker: Sara McLafferty is Professor of Geography & Geographic Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Barnard College, Columbia University and holds a PhD. from the University of Iowa. Her current research investigates place-based inequalities in health and well-being and access to health services for women, immigrants and racial/ethnic minorities in the United States. Her most recent books include GIS and Public Health (with Ellen Cromley), A Companion to Health and Medical Geography (with Tim Brown and Graham Moon), and Geospatial Analysis of Environmental Health.
