U-PASS Quick Start Guide

Download the UMO Mobility app for Android devices through the Google Play Store. Note: You must have a US Google account to download.

Download the UMO Mobility app for iOS devices through the Apple Store. Note: You must have a US Apple account to download.

1. Open the UMO Mobility app.
2. Tap Get started
3. Select MCTS - Milwaukee County Transit System or Milwaukee - Waukesha, WI as the transit agency. The exact name may vary based on the device.
4. The Umo App notifies you that it wants to know your location, to assist you with transit options in your area.
   • Tap Allow Once – to allow the Umo App to determine your location initially.
   • Tap Allow While Using App – to allow the Umo App to always recognize your location while you’re using it
   • Select Don’t Allow – to block the Umo App from determining your location! We don't recommend this setting since it can interfere with finding nearby routes and buses.
5. Tap Continue and make your location selection.
6. Select Allow to get live updates and allow notifications for real-time transit alerts, service updates and more.
7. Tap Set up now to set up your account to buy your transit fares and get moving.
8. Enter your mobile number or register with your email or an existing Umo card instead. You should enter your UWM.EDU email address. If you use another email address (such as GMAIL or OUTLOOK), you may have issues with your benefit code. If you entered your mobile number, a 4-digit code is texted to you: you will have to enter this code on the app and hit Continue to finish registering.

You can request your benefit code through submitting the U-PASS Benefit Code Request form. You will have to log in with your UWM account to verify your identity. Your login is your UWM.EDU email address and password. You may be asked to complete multifactor authentication as part of the login process.

Check your UWM.EDU email account and you will receive an email with your benefit code from uwmpark@uwm.edu Once you have done so, change the "Did you get your benefit code yet?" question to Yes to continue.

See this UWM Knowledge Base article for assistance logging into your UWM email account. Once signed in you can access the U-PASS Activation Request form. If you are still having issues accessing your UWM.EDU account, contact Help Desk at 414-229-4040.

If you had just registered for classes today or yesterday, our system may not have been updated with your registration status. Please try again tomorrow to receive a benefit code.

If it has been at least two days since you have registered classes or you urgently need a UPASS, please contact uwmpark@uwm.edu for assistance. Please note there may be delays in getting assistance at the start of the semester due to a high volume of customer service requests.

Your benefit code would have been sent to your UWM.EDU email, not a personal email. Please search your inbox for emails from uwmpark@uwm.edu. You may also need to check your junk mail.

Please resubmit the U-PASS benefit code request form to see if it can be resent to you. Otherwise, email uwmpark@uwm.edu for assistance.

1. Click the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top right of the screen to access settings.
2. Click Redeem Benefit (third option in the menu).
3. Enter the Benefit Code (minus the MCTS prefix).
4. Click Continue.
5. It will show up as successful.

You can confirm this by clicking the Wallet button, on the bottom right of the app. A QR code should appear and show "UWM UPASS" in the description.
