Below are instructions to set up another account on your Android device to download apps from the US, such as Passio GO, TransLoc, or UMO Mobility.
Add a Google or other account to your Android phone
- Open your device’s Settings app.
- Tap Passwords & accounts. If you can’t find “Accounts,” tap Users & accounts.
- Under “Accounts,” tap Add account.
- Tap Google, which is the type of account you want to add. When you sign in with a Google Account, the email, contacts, calendar events, and other data associated with that account automatically sync with your device.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. If you do not have a Google account tied to the United States, you should create one now. You can use your uwm.edu email. You have to add a US phone number or a phone number Your name, birthdate, gender, and (if asked) street address do not need to be real. More information about creating a Google account is available from Google: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/27441 . Be sure you have access to the email you enter as you may receive a code asking you to confirm.
- If you’re adding accounts, you may need to enter your device’s pattern, PIN, or password for security.
Switch accounts in a Google Play app
- Open a Google Play app.
- At the top right, tap your profile picture or initial.
- Tap the Down arrow
- Select an account.
Your account should be set up as a US one now. If you want to download apps from your home country, you may have to repeat the above steps to revert to your original Google account.
If you are having issues still, be sure that your account within Google Play country is set to the US. See the next section, “Change your Google Play country,” for instructions.
Change your Google Play country
Be sure that you are signed into a Google account separate from your original email address from your home country. If you change the country on your original email, it could affect app availability and updates. You can always use the steps in the “Switch Accounts” section to get apps from your home country.
You may have to enter payment information but payment to use the UMO Mobility app is typically included as part of tuition, and you will NOT need to add money to UMO Mobility app to use the UPASS. Contact Transportation Services if you have any questions.
- On your Android device, open the Google Play Store app
At the top right, tap the profile icon.
- Tap Settings > General > Account and device preferences > Country and profiles.
Tap the country where you want to add an account.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to add a payment method for that country.
