UWM’s Office of Trademark Licensing offers resources both for UWM students and student-athletes interested in expanding their personal brand, as well as licensees who have an interest in selling student or student-athlete-branded merchandise.
Trademark licensing is involved in name, image and likeness matters if the university’s brand in used in any way (including implied use).
Non-athlete students, student-athletes and businesses considering new projects that would incorporate both their personal brand and the university brand on licensed consumer products are asked to fill out this request form before coming to any agreement. Both Influxer and Athlete’s Thread already have permission to engage with student-athletes for NIL merchandise opportunities.
