Update your UWM Mac to macOS 11 Big Sur

Is your UWM Mac running the latest version of macOS? You can use “About This Mac” to find your Mac’s current version.

macOS Big Sur (version 11) is the newest version of macOS and includes a complete visual redesign of the user interface. It also includes major updates to many apps such as Safari, Messages, and Maps, and brings new features to the Mac like Control Center which brings instant access to controls for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, media playback, display brightness and more. Once Big Sur is installed, software updates begin in the background and complete faster than before — so it’s easier than ever to keep your Mac up to date and secure. For a complete list of new features available in Big Sur, please visit https://www.apple.com/macos/big-sur/features/.

All computers upgrading to Big Sur will also receive an upgrade to Jamf Connect. Jamf Connect replaces NoMAD and makes it easier for users to keep their ePantherIDs in sync and up to date – especially for devices off campus. For more information about what Jamf Connect does and how it is used at UWM, please visit Using Jamf Connect.

Most Mac models from 2013 or later are eligible to upgrade. Many UWM Macs will be able to upgrade through Self Service. For instructions, see: Upgrade to Big Sur. If you do not see the upgrade to macOS Big Sur in Self Service, you can Request IT Support for help getting your Mac refreshed and upgraded.
