Tech Tip: Always use Multi-Factor Authentication

Using multi-factor authentication (MFA) each time you log into your accounts adds an extra layer of security to the login process by verifying your identity.

UWM uses Microsoft MFA for this additional layer of security. With Microsoft MFA, you have a few options when it comes to authentication- in order of most to least secure:

  1. Microsoft Authenticator App – Sign in Prompt
  2. Microsoft Authenticator App – Code Entry or UWM-Issued Hardware Token Code Entry
  3. Phone Call
  4. Text Message

When logging into your account, MFA will automatically prompt you to sign in using your most secure method. To learn more about how to change your authentication method at log in, visit our KnowledgeBase article.

If you have any questions about or issues with MFA, please contact the UWM Help Desk.
