On September 30, 2024, Microsoft will retire Teams live events. Microsoft recommends that live event organizers switch to the new town hall feature for hosting events.

As an attendee of a live event or town hall, your experience will be the same for either type of Teams event.

If you are an organizer of events, you can continue to use live events, however some features are not currently supported by new Teams and you must use classic Teams for those features:

• Organizers of live events must use classic Teams or a web popup from new Teams. The organizer role will be available in new Teams in late March 2024.
• Producers of live events must use classic Teams to produce an event. The producer role will be available in new Teams in late March 2024.
